Ballet 4 Alzheimers

Perth Ballet dancer and teacher Lisa Purchas lost her beloved Mother to Alzheimer’s disease in 2016 and as a result, created and launched a ballet inspired exercise programme, ‘Ballet 4 You’ to help women with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), or Early Stage Alzheimer’s.  The unique series of exercises are designed to help participants focus on balance, postural re-alignment, body strengthening and the use of the brain and body in simple cross-lateral sequences.

There are substantial research findings that endorse positive connections between music and movement that slowly and repetitively engage the brain and the body in a way that improves executive function and creates a feeling of well-being.
